The Detention Room is a new concept for Hogwart Professors and the students. The room itself strips away one's magical capabilities during the duration of the detention leaving the student feeling almost like a muggle for a short period of time. Most professors also give the student(s) writing assignments or extra homework as an additional punishment while they are serving the detention.
